The Buddy Scheme is here to help you to settle into life at Queen Mary. Starting university can leave you with a lot of questions, most of which a current student is best equipt to answer. Our mentors are trained to support incoming students socially and will work with you throughout the year to unburden some of your worries, help you to integrate into QM and make sure you truly enjoy your time at Queen Mary.
Feeling positive and happy can have a major impact on your academic performance – having a mentor can play a huge role in this:
The Union Buddy Scheme is a pastoral scheme and focuses on the social aspect of studying, the Scheme is here to help you settle in and support your well-being.
First years will have access to forums in which you can communicate with current mentees, these mentors can assist you with any of the questions you may have before arriving.
You can expect to meet with your mentors during your induction week at Queen Mary, your mentor will help you to get to grips with the campus and all it has to offer.
Your mentor will keep in contact with you and meet with you periodically throughout the year. In between meetings, you can use e-mentoring in addition to the regular face to face meetings.
Each mentoring relationship is different so it’s best to talk to your mentors about the best way to keep in touch.
